How the Porcelain Laminates are made and after how many sessions will it finish?

Porcelain laminates are  prepared according to the patient's expectation, by biological and aesthetic factors which  are applied to the front surface of the tooth by the dentist. At least 2 sessions are required to complete porcelain laminates.

In the first session, preparation is made on the tooth surface. At least 0.3 mm of enamel tissue on the front surface of the tooth is abraded and measured. Temporary laminas will be placed in order to protect the teeth until the bonding session (2nd session) after the procedure. For this reason, the patient does not have an aesthetic problem until the next session and tooth sensitivity that may occur will be prevented.

In the second session, porcelain laminates are prepared according to the patient,  the porcelain laminates which preparation is completed are adhered to the tooth surface.

Is there any pain during the pocedure?

No pain is felt during the session, as the procedure is usually held at the enamel level; However,  patients with low pain threshold, there cn be used local anesthesia to complete the session more comfortably.

Daha sonra elde edilen alçı model üzerinde yapılacak uygulamanın bir protipi olan mum çalışması(wax-up) yapılır. Bu yapılan çalışma hekim ve hasta değerlendirmesi ve istenilen değişikliklerin belirlenmesinin ardından bu protipten tekrar ölçü alınarak bir negatif elde edilir. Bu negative geçici dolgu materyali kullanılarak hasta ağzına uygulanır, prova edilir(mock-up). Bu şekilde dişlerde herhangi bir işlem yapılmadan sonucun nasıl olacağı öngörülebilmektedir.

Is it possible to predict the result of Porcelain Laminate application ?

Patients wonder how they will look after the  the porcelain laminate  application. In the first examination, the patient is measured for diagnosis before performing any surface abrasion on the teeth and photographs. Then, a wax-up, which is a prototype of the application to be made on the plaster model obtained, is made. After the physician's and patient's evaluation of this study and the determination of the desired changes, a negative is obtained by taking measurements from this protype again. This negative is applied to the patient's mouth using temporary filling material, rehearsed (mock-up). In this way, the result can be predicted without any operation on the teeth.

What is the Advantage of Porcelain Laminates?

• Porcelain laminates do not change color. They cannot be dyed with foods such as cigarettes, tea, red wine, coffee.
• Since they do not contain metal, they do not cause gray reflection.
• Because of the structure of the porcelain material, a very natural appearance is obtained. Because they are thin and transparent, they allow light to pass through and make the teeth they are applied to look completely natural.
• To apply the porcelain laminates, a small amount of material is removed from the tooth's surface.  There is no need to reduce the tooth all around as in veneer production.
